Privacy Notice

Development phase. SCITED is in active development. Society question submission is being configured and is not currently accepting submissions. When live, it will collect anonymous public questions only. Please do not include your name, contact details or information that could identify you or someone else. SCITED uses submitted questions to identify demand patterns and potential SCITED Brief topics. SCITED does not provide personal medical advice or individual replies. Science and Systems registration may collect personal data only where the Privacy Notice identifies the controller, processor and storage route. Newsletter delivery is not yet active. Finalised legal documentation will be issued before full platform launch.

What this notice covers

This interim notice describes the personal data SCITED collects today, while the platform is in active development. It will be replaced by a finalised Privacy Notice before full platform launch.

Controller and processor

The legal controller entity for SCITED is currently TBC. The processor responsible for storage and the storage destination is currently TBC pending confirmation. These will be named in the finalised Privacy Notice.

What we collect today

SCITED currently collects personal data through two routes:

1. Researcher registration (Science)

When a researcher creates an account and completes onboarding, the following fields may be saved against their researcher record:

  • Full name, email, country
  • ORCID
  • Current affiliation, role / title
  • Short expertise statement
  • Optional researcher links: institutional profile, personal website, LinkedIn, Google Scholar, ResearchGate
  • Optional relevant social media handles (platform name + handle / URL)
  • Topic selections and expertise levels, engagement preferences, declared conflicts of interest, visibility setting and consent confirmation

2. Systems ask submission

When a Systems user submits an ask, the following fields are saved:

  • Submitter name, email, optional affiliation / organisation
  • Ask details: system context, ask type, topic, deadline, urgency, intended use, audience, commercial context, conflict sensitivity, output needed, additional notes
  • Consent to contact

Where the data is stored

Researcher and Systems data is stored in the SCITED application database (managed Postgres via Lovable Cloud / Supabase infrastructure). The specific storage region and processor entity to be named in the finalised notice are currently TBC.

3. Society question submission

The Society question form collects question text only. The form explicitly asks users not to include their name, contact details or any information that could identify them or someone else.

  • No name, email, phone number, location or demographic data is collected.
  • No account or user identifier is attached to submitted questions.
  • Submitted questions are stored for clustering, moderation and demand-signal analysis.
  • Submitted questions are not displayed publicly.
  • Questions may be paraphrased or anonymised if they inform future SCITED Briefs.
  • The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent automated abuse. The Turnstile challenge token is verified on our server and immediately discarded. Your IP address is not sent to Cloudflare by SCITED and is not stored with your question.

Newsletter

The SCITED Briefs newsletter is not yet active. If it becomes active later, the newsletter signup will be a separate consent flow and will not be linked to any submitted Society question.

What is not yet active

  • The SCITED Briefs newsletter is not yet collecting emails.
  • Automated data deletion workflows are not yet in place. Deletion requests are handled manually (see below).

Your rights

To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, email hello@getscited.com. Requests are handled manually during the development phase.

Researcher profiles are private

SCITED is not a public researcher directory. Researcher profiles are not browsable by the public or by Systems users. SCITED manages matches internally.
